Product Description
This reproduction Weber Costello world globe is very skillfully made. It measures overall 13.4" Length x 12.6" width x 17.3" Height.
This Weber Costello 1920s Globe is made of copperplate printed gores (specially shaped map sections) modeled after the actual 16th Century orginal cartographers globe. The gores are cut and applied by hand on papier-mache globe spheres. The globe is meticulously handcrafted using the complicated ‘gravure’ printing process that results in the sharpest details, lines and symbols.
The globe stand is made of solid aluminum with a polished pewter finish. On the stands semi-meridian (half arm) are latitude (coordinate) markings which start at the equator 0° and run to 90° at the north and south pole. The meridian is a useful way to locate a place on a globe.
This beautiful Weber Costello world globe is sure to become a conversational addition to your nautical desk top decor.
