This high quality, highly detailed, intermediate level, La Gaspésienne fishing boat schooner model is fully assembled and ready for display (not a kit). To save on shipping this model is shipped with her masts layed down, you just need to raise the masts. A moderate skill level is required to raise the masts and adjust the rigging.
This Schooner La Gaspésienne Model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak together on the hull). The sailboat model is built exactly to scale as the original La Gaspésienne Canadian fishing boat was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
The La Gaspésienne was launched at the Canadian Davie Shipyard which was built in the beginning of the 19th century. The last of the Davie brothers died in 1951, and Paul Gourdeau, the company’s accountant, took over the business. He began building wooden fishing boats of a type called the “Gaspésienne,” producing over 125 of them.
