This beautifully handcrafted, expert level, high quality, HMS Victory Copper Clad Bottom tall ship model is semi-assembled and ready for display (not a kit). Some light assembly is required you will need to attach the ship model to it's base stand and attach the bowsprit into it's position, instructions and materials are included (please see images, text instructions included too, video will be emailed).
This HMS Victory copper clad bottom model was specially designed & built by the plank on bulkhead method (joining multiple small pieces of wood like Rosewood, Mahogany, Teak and other exotic tropical wood together on the hull). The tall ship model is built exactly to scale as the original HMS Victory was with many details. The task required skillful craftsmen hundreds of hours to accomplish.
The HMS Victory model has a real copper clad hull bottom. The bottom of the model has been covered with strips of copper and then encapsulated in fiberglass, so the copper should stay in perfect condition. This was an early form of bottom paint and was done to ward off barnacles and the Toredo worm (a wood boring worm). Keeping the bottom clean allowed the war ship to sail at her best speed.
There are three decks, and three ferocious rows of metal cannons on each side of the ship. The front bowsprit and three large masts are connected securely using advanced rigging and lines painstakingly knotted and fastened by hand. Each yard has an attached hand-stitched rolled-up sails made of fine linen. Metal anchors and a wooden rudder are visible on the front and rear of the ship. On the deck, there are authentic hand-built lifeboats with ribs and planks, stationed metal cannons, metal steering wheels, wooden crane, captain’s dining and sleeping cabin, and many other handcrafted ornaments. There is also an exquisite detailed admiral’s quarter on the stern with beautiful metal lanterns, handcrafted brass statues and ornaments, and a wooden flag pole.
This is an “Exclusive Edition” where the model has a unique serial number etched into the hull, which allows us to identify production date, material used and all other production information of a model.
The HMS Victory copper clad bottom model measures 38.5" long from bow to stern. It's a historical & famous ship model that is sure to become a treasured family heirloom.
