This Cassini 1790 Old World Globe is brand new and is very skillfully made. It measures overall 5.51" inches in width x 10.8" inches tall.
This reproduction Cassini 1790 globe is made with printed maps copied from ancient library originals, dating back to the 16th and 17th century. Early globes show the world as it was perceived at an age when navigation was done by measuring positions of sun and stars and a simple compass to sail to the ends of the known world and beyond.
The globe is supported and rotates in solid brass finals on a solid mahogany wood hand turned stand. The globe is packaged in a Christopher Columbus gift box.
